Prana Portal

  1. Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change launched ‘PRANA’.
  2. It is a national portal for Regulation of Air Pollution in Non-Attainment Cities and inaugurated a smog tower in Delhi coinciding with the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.
  3. The PRANA portal will provide all information related to various policies/programs/schemes/activities of the stakeholders along with the progress made towards improvement in air quality across the country.
  4. This portal will be a platform for monitoring and feedback on all efforts made for air quality improvement.

Vidyanjali Portal

  1. The Vidyanjali is designed to help funders, education volunteers, and CSR contributors with school development.
  2. It serves as a forum for the country’s determination to achieve ‘Sabka Saath,    Sabka Vikas,    Sabka Vishwas’ through   ‘Sabka Prayas.’
  3. The Vidyanjali site will allow community members and volunteers to participate by connecting directly with government and government-aided schools.

Business Blasters

  1. New Delhi launched the “Business Blasters” program for Delhi government school students of Classes 11 and 12.
  2. “The Business Blasters program will serve as a milestone in the progress of the country.
  3. It has been launched for students of Delhi government schools of Classes 11-12,
  4. Under this program, children will be trained in entrepreneurship skills. Competitions will be held at the district and state levels. A total of 1000 children will qualify for the district-level competition from which 10 winners be selected.
  5. These winners will get direct admission to Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi Technological University (DTU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), and Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT).
  6. The “Business Blasters” program was started at the School of Excellence in Khichripur under a pilot project.

First Function smog tower

  1. Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change inaugurated the first functional smog tower in India at Anand Vihar in Delhi.
  2. A smog tower is a structure designed as a large or medium scale air purifier to reduce air pollution, usually by forcing the air through filters.
  3. The smog tower at Anand Vihar, with a height of over 20 meters, is of downdraft type — polluted air comes in from the top of the tower and clean air comes out of the bottom — and is intended for localized reduction in particulate matter.
  4. The filtration system used in the tower has been designed by the University of Minnesota with an expected efficiency of 90 percent.

IUCN Study

  1. The world’s sharks and rays have seen declines in their populations since 2014 and more and more are now threatened with extinction, according to a new red list released at a global conference aimed at protecting dwindling species.
  2. There are signs of hope, too – fishing quotas have allowed several tuna species to be put on the “path to recovery”.
  3. Some 37% of the world’s sharks and rays are considered in danger as of 2021, up from 33% seven years ago.
  4. Overfishing, a loss of habitat, and climate change explain the upward trend.
  5. Oceanic shark populations have dropped by 71% since 1970.

Chandrayaan-2

  1. Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft of India has completed more than 9,000 orbits around the Moon.
  2. Imaging and other scientific instruments on the aircraft have been providing excellent useful data since then.

Indian Railways

  1. Indian Railways launched its new AC-3 tier Economy coaches with 83 berths. There were 72 berths in the Economy coach. A ticket for this coach is 8 percent lesser than the three-tier AC coach.
  2. The Indian Railways have been developing coaches with improved features to facilitate travel. The new entry to the Indian Railways is the three-tier AC economy class coach.

HDFC and NSIC

  1. HDFC Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Small Industries Corporation to offer credit support to MSMEs across the country.
  2. The bank branches will extend support to the MSME projects in the areas they are located and to other important industrial sectors across the country.

ADB loans TN

  1. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $150 million loan to provide access to inclusive, resilient and sustainable housing for the Urban poor in Tamil Nadu
  2. The state is vital to India’s economic growth, contributing 8.54% of India’s GDP.
