IBPS

The government constituted central body Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or IBPS conducts timely examinations and follows it up as and when the vacancies arise. Due to this sole reason banking exams are given much preference among the younger generation. Timely recruitment and speedy declaration of results set these exams apart from the other central government exams. Unlike other exams, the period between the conduct of examination and declaration of result is very less. For an aspirant, this is not a small thing. Giving one’s best and writing exams by itself is a huge challenge for him or her, and waiting for the result is quite an exciting and tiresome journey at the same time. The faster the result is out, the better. IBPS releases a calendar every year mostly in February in which important information such as the dates of release of upcoming bank recruitment notifications is mentioned.

Qualifications required

For IBPS clerks or OA the qualifications asked are:

  1. Graduation in any discipline from any Central government recognized University or any equivalent qualification. The candidate should provide a valid mark sheet on the day of document verification.
  2. Proficiency in the respective Local Language. A candidate after passing the main exam needs to pass a language proficiency test if he or she has not studied that language in their 10th or 12th standard.
  3. Computer literacy is also a must. The candidate should have a certificate, degree, or diploma in computer or should have learned computer in their high school in the form of IT, computer operations, computer languages, etc.

 For IBPS PO the qualifications asked are:

  1. Graduation in any discipline from any Central government recognized University or any equivalent qualification. He or she should provide a valid mark sheet on the day of document verification. Candidates in their final year or semester are not eligible to apply.
  2. A minimum percentage of 60% in graduation is a must for those who wish to apply. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.

FOR IBPS SO the qualifications are as follows:

Specialist officers are those who have graduated in select streams and are recruited separately from Probationary officers. Due to this reason, the number of candidates who apply for this is relatively low.

  • For IT: 4 year Engineering Degree Computer Applications / in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunications

OR

  • Post Graduate Degree in Electronics/Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics &       Telecommunication/ Electronics & Communication/ Information Technology/ Computer Applications Computer Science.

OR

A graduate of DOEACC ‘B’ level

  • Agricultural Field Officer Scale I ­: 4 year Degree (graduation) in Agriculture/ Dairy Science/ Agri. Marketing & Cooperation/Agricultural Biotechnology/ Co-operation & Banking/ Food Science/ Fishery Science/Horticulture/ Pisciculture / Agriculture Business Management/ Food Technology/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Engineering/Animal Husbandry / Forestry/ Veterinary Science/Sericulture Agro-Forestry.
  • Rajbhasha Adhikari Scale I: A person who has done post-graduation in Hindi with English as one of the subjects (graduation level).

OR

Post-graduation in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as two of the subjects at the degree (Graduation) level.

  • Law Officer Scale I: Those who possess a Bachelors’s Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council.
  • HR/Personnel Officer Scale I: Graduate along with two years full-time Postgraduate degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management/HR/Industrial Relations/Social Work/HRD/Labour Law.
  • Marketing Officer Scale I: Graduate and Full-Time MBA (Marketing) / PGDBM with specialization in Marketing/Full time 2 years PGDBA.

General qualifications required:

  1. Candidates should have finished the respective graduation or post-graduation as mentioned in the qualification. The candidate should produce Proof of the same needs to be submitted by the candidate during document verification.
  2. A minimum percentage of 60% in graduation or post-graduation for the required subject.

 SBI

Being the most important public sector bank, a job in SBI is something lakhs aspire for. Even though SBI is a public sector bank, its clerical and PO exams are not conducted with other public sector banks. Over the years, the exams conducted by SBI for the post of clerks and PO have become tougher especially the latter. In 2020 SBI clerk mains was reported to be of a slightly different pattern from the previous years. SBI is known for experimentation with questions, which is later followed by IBPS for its exams. The toughness level is close to CAT exams nowadays.

Qualifications

For OA the qualifications asked are:

  1. Graduation in any discipline from any Central government recognized University or any equivalent qualification.
  2. Candidates possessing a dual degree certificate.
  3.  Candidates who are in their final year, provided they produce the proof that they will graduate before a specified date which will be mentioned by the bank in the official notification.

For SBI PO the qualifications demanded are as follows:

  1.  Graduation in any discipline from any Central government recognized University or any equivalent qualification.
  2. Candidates possessing a dual degree certificate with proof that they passed the course before a said date (mentioned in the notification).
  3. Candidates who are in their final year, provided they produce the proof that they will graduate before a specified date which will be mentioned by the bank in the official notification.
  4.  Candidates with CA qualifications can also apply.
  5.  There is no minimum percentage required in graduation. Less than 60% of graduates are also eligible.

For SBI SO the qualifications required are:

  1. There are many posts under SBI SO which require the candidates to possess qualification according to post, similar to IBPS SO qualifications. These will be mentioned in the official notification
  2. The age limit also varies depending on the post applied.

 For RRB PO, there is a slight variation, where the competition is between the candidates of a state and not at the national level. Whereas SBI PO AND IBPS PO are conducted at the national level. This is mainly because language plays an important role for RRBs. For both PO and clerk, LPT or Language Proficiency Test will be conducted. Qualifications are similar to IBPS office assistants and Officers.

SBI does not release a tentative calendar. Analyzing the exams as per the trends in 2020, the possible period in which the exams can happen in 2021 are mentioned below:

 In 2020, IBPS couldn’t conduct the exams according to the calendar released at the beginning of the year due to the pandemic. However, the institution came back to life by the end of the year with the release of SBI clerk result 2020. Following this, each exam was conducted in a fast-paced manner and their results were also declared accordingly. Therefore, the upcoming bank exams in 2021 can be expected to happen promptly without any delay in between.

Apart from IBPS and SBI, there are some other major bank exams that happen almost every year (Certain exams might happen only in alternate years). They are mentioned below:

NABARD

NABARD conducts exams for various posts such as Grade A (Assistant Manager), Grade B, Development Assistant, and Attendant. For Development Assistant, there are only two stages of recruitment whereas for Grade A and Grade B there will also be a final round of selection done through personal interview.

The post of Development assistant is divided into two based on language- Development Assistant and Development Assistant (Hindi). LPT is compulsory for the latter. Grade A-Assistant manager also has three categories such as Legal, Rajbhasha, RDBS.

The last recruitment for the post of Development assistant and GRADE B happened in 2019. Therefore, notification for the same can be expected any time soon.

The possible dates are:

Preliminary examination Grade A: June 2021

Grade B: May 2021

Development Assistant: October 2021

Office Attendant: June 2021

Main examination Grade A: June/July 2021

Grade B: June 2021

RBI

Being one of the most important central government institutions, RBI holds huge importance for a banking aspirant. To be part of this prestigious institution is a dream of many. This year, RBI has already conducted the recruitment to the post of officers under GRADE B initiating the process in January. It has also closed the application for the post of attendant on March 15th and that of junior engineer on February 15th. Now, candidates are eagerly waiting for the notification for the post of RBI Assistant which is considered to be of great importance in the upcoming bank exams.

Educational Qualification:

  1. Those who have passed their graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and have a working knowledge of computers are eligible to apply.

The likely dates in which the exam for the same can happen are as follows:

Preliminary examination November/December 2021
Main examination  January 2022

 

SEBI

SEBI or Security Exchange Board of India has recently completed the two main phases for the post of Assistant Manager (Grade A). The result of the second phase has been released and candidates are waiting for the interview dates. One might need to patiently wait and see if any other recruitment will be conducted this year. SEBI unlike previously mentioned institutions does not frequently conduct recruitments; rather takes its time and releases notifications as and when the vacancies arise.

Currently open:

Bank of Maharashtra has released a special recruitment notification for the post of Generalist Officers on 20-03-2021. The application link will close on 06-04-2021. For candidates belonging to UR, EWS, and OBC, categories the fee is Rs.1180/- and for SC/ST it is Rs.180/-. The age limit is 25-35 years.

Qualifications required are as follows:

Any person with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate for all semesters. For ST/SC and OBC, the minimum percentage is 55%. JAIIB or CAIIB is desirable.

OR

A Professional qualification like ICWA / CA / CFA / FRM from a recognized Institution/ University/ Board recognized by Govt. of India or approved by Govt. Regulatory bodies
