UNFPA has launched the State of World Population Report 2021 titled ‘My Body is My Own’.

UNFPA:
  • UNFPA refers to the United Nations Population Fund.
  • The organization was created in 1969, the same year the United Nations General Assembly declared “parents have the exclusive right to determine freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children.”
  • UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency.
  • UNFPA’s mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.
  • The report released by UNFPA: State of World Population Report
  • The report for the first time focuses on Bodily autonomy which means that we have the power and agency to make choices over our bodies and futures, without violence or coercion.

2. DDU GKY

News Summary

Alumni meets were organized across the country under DDU GKY. As part of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, around 119 ‘Alumni Meets’ were organized across the country between 5th and 11th April 2021, with much fervor by States/UTs commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence.

DDU GKY:
  • The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) Antyodaya Diwas, on 25th September 2014.
  • DDU-GKY is a nationwide placement-linked skill training program funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
  • DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth.
  • DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families.
  • As a part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like the Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities, and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns.
