1. Skill India mission

News Summary

Under Skill India Mission, the Government is implementing more than 40 skill development schemes/programs across 20 Central Ministries/Departments, for providing a variety of skill development training programs on a pan India basis in which 556.1 Lakhs persons have been trained.

Skill India and National Skil Development Mission:
  • Skill India campaign is an initiative of the Government of India which has been launched to empower the youth of the country with skill sets that make them more employable and more productive in their work environment.
  • Our National Skill Mission is chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MSDE) launched the Skill India campaign in 2015.
  • National Skill Development Mission was launched in 2015 by PM under the flagship scheme PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana: (UPSC Prelims Question 2017,2018)
  • Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation.
  • The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
  • Training Centres for imparting vocational training are called Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras.
  • Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

2. Pegasus

News Summary

Shri AshwiniVaishnaw, the Minister of Electronics & Information Technology made a statement on  “Alleged use of spyware Pegasus to compromise phone data of some persons as reported in Media on 18th July 2021” in Lok Sabha.

Prelims GS – Science & Technology

  • Pegasus is a spyware tool.
  • It was developed by an Israeli firm, NSO group.
  • Pegasus works by sending exploit links to the users and when the link is clicked, the code that creates surveillance on the phone is installed.
  • This Pegasus spyware enables the attacker to get complete access to the target person’s phone including microphone, camera, and all applications.

3. Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund

News Summary

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, with a view to providing dedicated focus towards promoting & facilitating investments in the Indian Dairy sector, has set up Dairy Investment Accelerator under its Investment Facilitation Cell. Dairy Investment Accelerator is generating awareness among investors about the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development fund (AHIDF).

  • Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund(AHIDF) is one of the flagship schemes by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.
  • Rs. 15,000 crore fund has been set up under AHIDF.
  • This is for offering financial support to entrepreneurs, private companies, MSME, Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs), and Section 8 companies.
  • Eligible entities can avail the benefits of the scheme to set up new units or expand existing units in areas of dairy processing & related value addition infrastructure, meat processing & related value addition infrastructure, and Animal Feed Plant.
  • The benefits available are:
    • 3% interest subvention on loans
    • 2-year moratorium with a 6-year repayment period
    • INR 750 Cr credit guarantee
