1. CERT and alert on cyber intrusion

News Summary

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways received an alert from CERT-In regarding targeted intrusion activities directed towards the Indian Transport sector with possible malicious intentions. The Ministry has advised departments and organizations under the transport sector to strengthen the security posture of their infrastructure.

CERT-In:
  • Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is in operations since January 2004.
  • CERT is the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents as and when they occur,
  • CERT-In is responsible for the following functions:
    • Collection, analysis, and dissemination of information on cybersecurity incidents
    • Forecasting and alerting cybersecurity incidents
    • Emergency measures for handling cybersecurity incidents
    • Coordination of cyber incident response activities.
    • Issuing guidelines, advisories, and vulnerability notes relating to the prevention, response, and reporting of cybersecurity incidents
