News Summary

National Commission for Women shared a series of tweets on the occasion of World Day against Trafficking in Persons which was celebrated with the theme of “First responders to human trafficking.” In those series of tweets, NCW shared a story of a brave Odisha girl who helped rescue of 6,000 migrant workers from 30 brick kilns in T.N. The girl and their people were working in a brick kiln. They completed their work and wanted to return to Odisha after the lockdown was announced. The owner and his men thrashed them mercilessly including women and children. The girl recorded all those incidents and sent it to her Whatsapp contacts and slowly that video became viral on social media and an NGO reached out and led to the expeditious rescue of the workers. Thus, the courage of this girl is commendable and it shows how everyone should be brave during the crisis and tough situations without losing hope.
