Current affairs summary – 29 July 2021

1 . The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021 passed.

In News:

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021, which seeks to amend the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, was passed in the Rajya Sabha on 28.7.2021. The bill was introduced in the Parliament by the Government in the Budget session this year. It was passed in Lok Sabha on 24.03.2021.

  • The amendments include authorizing District Magistrate including Additional District Magistrate to issue adoption orders under Section 61 of the JJ Act, in order to ensure speedy disposal of cases and enhance accountability.

2. KVIC and BSF launched Project BOLD in Jaisalmer.

In News:

KVIC & BSF launched Project BOLD in Jaisalmer to Prevent Desertification. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on Tuesday planted 1000 bamboo saplings at Tanot village in Jaisalmer, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF). It is the first of its kind effort to develop green cover in the Indian deserts of Rajasthan.

4. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

The Government has revised and revamped the Operational Guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) with effect from Rabi 2018 and Kharif 2020 respectively to ensure the targeted delivery of benefits of the scheme to the farmers. 5. NISHTHA

In News:

Due to COVID-19 challenges and in order to provide continuous professional development opportunities to the teachers at the elementary level, this Department has launched NISHTHA online using the DIKSHA platform in October 2020. Around 24 lakh teachers have completed NISHTHA online training at the elementary level by June 2021.

1. 39th World Heritage site in India

In News:

India’s nomination of Rudreswara Temple, (also known as the Ramappa Temple) at Palampet, Mulugu district, near Warangal in the state of Telangana has been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. India has got its 39th World Heritage site.

3. Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund
